Summary:

The GMO Panel assessed maize DP202216 (EFSA, 2024). The maize

• overexpresses the ZMM28 protein, an endogenous transcription factor in maize,
• and produces the phosphinothricin acetyl transferase (PAT) protein for tolerance to glufosinate-ammonium-containing herbicides;

Consequently, the maize is resistant to glufosinate herbicides and is supposed to have an increased yield potential.
